Trekking in Morocco's Atlas Mountains: foothills to snowfields
Publication: The Sunday TelegraphDate: March 15, 2009
Author: Ed Bishop
Ed Bishop travelled to Morocco with cazenove+loyd and together with three friends went trekking in the Atlas Mountains as well as staying in a riad in Marrakech before the trek and a mountain lodge afterwards.
As if to prove that one person's heaven is another person's hell, the trip was organised in two parts- the main part of the trip by cazenove+loyd taking in two comfortable but still authentic and atmospheric small hotels and some of the stay in the mountains- a tented trek in the High Atlas- by one of Ed Bishop's friends.
A bout of altitude sickness above 12,000 feet and a cold, uncomfortable night in a tent certainly proved to Ed Bishop that the cazenove+loyd way is the way to go and even the more macho ‘self assemblers' agreed that it is the contrast which makes it all so special – ‘one way or another, we all need to get uncomfortable now and again.'
Each cazenove+loyd itinerary is individually designed to a client's individual needs and interests. To discuss a holiday to Morocco, please call one of our destination experts on +44 (0) 20 7384 2332.
