responsible tourism

cazenove+loyd works in some of the most ecologically and culturally sensitive parts of the world.

And we are always conscious of operating in a way which has a positive impact on both environment and people.

Tourism is our livelihood and the livelihood of the people we work with in Africa + Indian Ocean, Central + South America and South + South East Asia – it is our joint responsibility to promote sustainable development in tourism. We travel extensively and try to influence good practice wherever possible. We also encourage our clients to feed back to us on both good and bad practice when they come across it. As a small company with a relatively small number of clients we believe that the best way to have a positive impact is to work with individuals who share our values.

Similar to the locally-owned, small-scale lodges and hotels which we tend to favour in our itineraries we also favour small, local charitable projects.

We currently support the following three charities which operate in our three regions of expertise:

Tusk Trust

We have for many years supported Tusk Trust, a dynamic UK based African Wildlife Trust, with 20 years experience of conserving wildlife, promoting education and supporting community development programmes across Africa. This year we aim to donate enough money to pay for 12 students to take the one year Field Internship course at the Koiyaki Guiding School.

ITNC

ITNC was founded in 1980 by the Chairman of the Tiger Mountain Group of Companies, and a group of like minded people who were united in a determination to try and protect parts of the world where wildlife is threatened by human activities. Hattie Broadhead, Head of our Africa team sits on the ITNC's board. This year, we hope to donate enough money to buy a Land Rover for anti-poaching patrols in National Parks and Game Reserves throughout India.

Rainforest Concern

Rainforest Concern was established to protect threatened natural habitats, particularly rainforests and the biodiversity they contain, together with the indigenous people who still depend on them for their survival.
