Having never set foot in Africa before starting work at c+l, I consider myself very lucky to have travelled much of the continent in some considerable style! My first foray led me to several impossibly glamorous camps in Botswana and from then on, I was well and truly hooked.
Not that a c+l safari is necessarily all about super luxury – the best thing about Africa is that there really is something to suit absolutely everyone. I have road tested everything from a tiny, lantern-lit tented mobile in the depths of Tanzania’s Katavi National Park to a magical semi-permanent camp on Namibia’s wild and truly spectacular Skeleton Coast and some fantastically luxurious all-singing, all-dancing lodges in some of South Africa’s best wildlife reserves.
There is something about that glorious star-laden sky and the earthy red soil that enthralls visitors to Africa and whether it is planning a family’s first African adventure or an old African hand’s seventeenth trip to the continent, every individual itinerary is a thrill to plan and I hope that the excitement is infectious.
