Sunset bbq

It was my last night on Vamizi Island and the most beautiful sunset was setting across the Mozambican mainland. Fiery reds and oranges lit up the sky. We had asked to go on the local dhow in the late afternoon so we could appreciate this beautiful African sky from the gentle evening sea. No noises spoilt the mood as we sat back and enjoyed the magnificent view.
Once back on land the most incredible smells hit us. A barbeque was set up and all the chefs were busily preparing the most sumptuous diner we had ever seen! Fresh crayfish caught that morning by locals was being slowly turned and King Mackerel which had been caught that afternoon, by a guest, crackled away on the bbq. My favourite were the fresh prawns cooked to perfection. On another table entirely, a kaleidoscope of salads were presented beautifully, catering to our every whim.
We sat on the beach under the most stunning twinkling sky with only the gentle lapping of the tide as company and our now very full tummies!
