A photographic journey through Rajasthan
Georgia Oetker, Client

Christopher at c+l persuaded me to go to small, owner-run places in rural communities rather than to the main cities and I am really grateful for that. I was able to spend a good amount of time in each place, which allowed me to develop a real sense of the place and the culture. I felt so welcomed and was able to photograph and spend time with the most generous and dignified people and feel the richness of their souls.

Staying in rural areas meant that I came into closer contact with the people, especially women. Looking at a series of portraits from Rajasthan, I realise that I consider these shots of women's faces to be the most valuable to me. These strong women are always working and never stand still, or only for a split second. And when they open their veils to another woman from another world, and smile- there is a recognition there which is deeply moving and stays with me.
